Ganesha and the Cat: A Story of Compassion and Forgiveness

One day, Lord Ganesha was playing with his mouse, who was his vehicle and friend. He saw a cat nearby and decided to chase it for fun. The cat ran away, but Ganesha caught it and started to pull its tail and ears. The cat cried in pain and begged Ganesha to leave it alone. But Ganesha did not listen and continued to torture the cat.

After a while, Ganesha got bored and let the cat go. He went back to his home, where he saw his mother, Goddess Parvati, sitting in a corner. She looked very sad and hurt. Her body was covered with bruises and scratches. Ganesha was shocked and asked her what had happened. Parvati said, "My son, you have done this to me. You have hurt me very badly."

Ganesha was confused and said, "Mother, how can I hurt you? I love you so much. I would never do anything to harm you." Parvati said, "You may not know this, but I am present in every living being in this world. When you hurt any creature, you hurt me as well. The cat that you were playing with was my manifestation. You did not realize that you were hurting your own mother."

Ganesha realized his mistake and felt very sorry. He apologized to his mother and promised to never hurt any animal again. He also went back to the cat and asked for its forgiveness. The cat forgave him and became his friend.

The moral of this story is that we should respect all living beings and treat them with kindness. We should not harm anyone for our own amusement or pleasure. We should remember that God is present in every creature and we should love them as we love God.
